Cairo and Zürich, April 7, 2021: An opening speech on eGovernment and the smart digital society was delivered by Sophie Boyer de la Giroday, President of Wise Media, at the inauguration of Egypt’s state-of-the-art industrial security complex in the presence of President Al-Sisi, Prime Minister and entire cabinet of government ministers.
In her opening remarks, Wise Media President, Sophie Boyer de la Giroday commented on the massive industrial investment and how Egypt has rapidly achieved the creation of the premises for a vertically integrated center of excellence that is unique in the MEA region, where security products and electronic documents will be designed and manufactured with advanced materials and security features produced domestically and personalized using in-house expertise. According to what was disclosed in detail by its CEO to the President of Egypt and his entire cabinet of ministers visiting the site on the inauguration day, a dedicated entity will be capable of serving all different ministries and establish the building block around which to construct a modern trust model, where the government can finally establish an individual relationship with each and every member of today’s society.
“Digital transformation to secure a trusted and efficient e-government model is a fundamental step ahead to empower each and every citizen – even the most underprivileged and living in the most remote locations of the country,” she said. “In particular, digital IDs allow each person to digitally assert his or her rights and should hold the promise for each and every member of society to enjoy the chance to deploy their talents, accessing a whole set of expanding services as a student, as a patient, as an employee or as a person looking for a job,” added Sophie Boyer de la Giroday, long standing advocate of government-led projects leaning on the ID revolution to mitigate poverty, defend human rights and create a more inclusive society.
Before a visionary speech by President Al-Sisi, proceedings included in-depth presentations of current digitization programs carried out by the Egyptian Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, the Minister of Justice, Omar Marawan and the Minister of Education, Tarek Shawky, who spoke after the CEO and Director of the country’s new state-of-the-art industrial complex. Overall, the high-profile audience of a highly successful event held during pandemic times enjoyed a detailed inauguration and presentation of the new infrastructure created in just three years – by virtue of the President’s personal initiative.
